Wearing Sunscreen in the Autumn & Winter

Do you need to wear sunscreen in the cooler months? A question as old as time. The short answer is yes. The long answer is also yes.

While the UV index is generally less in the autumn and winter months, UVA/UVB rays can still damage your skin. We all have that friend who came back from a ski trip with a sun burned kisser and outline of ski goggles on their face. Is your risk of burning during the cooler months lower than it is in the summer? Absolutely. But if you're going to be outside for more than 15 minutes you should still throw a little sunscreen on. Just make sure you're using a sustainable mineral sunscreen and not a chemical susncreen.

With cooler weather around the corner we feel some mixed emotions at Sun Potions. We love the summer but the summer in Dallas, TX is usually pretty brutal. Honestly, my sweet spot is right around 85 degrees. Warm enough to go to the beach or pool but cool enough that you can still sit outside without melting. I'm not looking forward to winter. Winter sucks. But we'll have some new products coming out this autumn and winter so keep an eye out for those!
